Frequently asked questions about carrot peeling machines

Both techniques have their strengths. Abrasive peeling using carborundum rollers or drums is well suited to higher capacities and delivers a clean, consistent result. Knife peeling produces a smoother, more polished finish that is particularly valued in fresh market and retail applications. In many operations, both techniques are combined to achieve the optimal balance between throughput, yield, and end product appearance. We are happy to advise you on the best approach for your specific situation.

Yes. Several of our machines, including the Roller peeler CRP and the CBS/MBS, are also suitable for other longitudinal root vegetables such as parsnips and celeriac. Contact us to discuss your specific product requirements

Yes. Depending on the situation, the controls and line set-up can be configured to include both Sormac machines and third-party equipment. Contact us to explore the possibilities.

A standalone machine handles peeling as a separate step in your operation. An in-line system integrates peeling seamlessly with other steps such as topping, cutting, washing, and weighing into one continuous, automated flow. Sormac offers both and can advise you on which approach best suits your production volume and process requirements.

Absolutely. Our range covers every production scale, from the CBS/MBS for smaller operations (up to 770 lbs/h) to the Roller peeler CRP for high-volume processors (up to 17,500 lbs/h). For maximum throughput, we also offer fully automated carrot processing lines.
